My hopelessly romantic husband stole me yesterday for a Valentine's retreat, which began with a couple's massage.
We both went away smelling like lemon grass, with greasy hair, and relaxed facial lines. Tom mentioned wanting to take a nap, but instead we traveled to Long Beach and boarded a private yacht he rented for the evening.
After Mahi, Mahi caesar salads, we carried our belongings on board this 3 bedroom yacht with a t.v. as big as one of the beds. Instead of watching t.v., we went to the movies and to dinner.
I ordered this
...the amazing Ahi Tuna Tower with avocado, mango, rice, ahi, and fish eggs. I didn't know Ahi meant raw, and I was caught between my own belief system and an enjoyable meal.
Tom noticed the creased lines return to my face, but I didn't want my choice between two undesirable alternatives to burden him, so I tried to resolve this quickly in my mind.
I just couldn't eat the raw tuna. I just couldn't. And I didn't decide quickly, which was OK with both Tom and our kind waiter.
Round 2: Hawaiian Coconut Opah
After dinner, we returned to the yacht for the rest of the evening and were rocked to sleep by the calm, cool ocean.
My Valentine's Day getaway was perfect. It was romantic, spontaneous, creative, and straight from Tom's heart to mine. Happy Valentine's Day!
What did I do for him?
He received a nice card, a pocket token-which is such an honor and expression of love between us, and some chocolate caramels. Oh, and a dance.
